@cartelackey use different reader, i also happened to have the same issue before.
Calibre on PC and Prestigio for Android user

The second volume IS broken, that some readers ignore the missing files is interesting, but while Calibre could read it several I tested couldn’t do it.

Edit: As a test I added the missing metadata files (just copied from book 1) and verified there were no volume specific issues, the file now opens in app epub readers that I tested.
