![Chitose-chan loves food](https://i.imgur.com/1NWOaRC.png) __Disclaimer #1.__ I'm not a native Japanese speaker, I'm just learning, so I apologize if I translated something wrong. m(\_ \_)m __Disclaimer #2.__ I'm not a native English speaker either, so there could be some grammar mistakes. Sorry for that too. m(\_ \_)m Finally an episode with both cultural and historical stuff! Raws are __[Leopard-Raws' 720p](https://nyaa.si/view/1111232)__ as usual. Extremely useful info for this episode: * [__Shijou Kawaramachi__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shij%C5%8D_Kawaramachi) ([Google Maps](https://goo.gl/maps/Ui3iaeySoXGdkaWa9)) — it's a lively part of central Kyoto, where two streets, Shijou and Kawaramachi insects. This place really contrasts with historical part of Kyoto with all its modern buildings, shopping malls and high-end fashion shops. So if you want to do some shopping in Kyoto, this is the best place for that. It's also not that far from __Nishiki Market__ from [episode 12](https://nyaa.si/view/1137024). * __Settai__ — while the temptation to just translate it as "business party" and call it a day was super high, I decided to leave it as settai and make a little translator note. So! You might heard about __nomikai__, that is kind of event in companies when salarymen gather in bar or izakaya to drink together. __Settai__ is close to it, but at the same time it's super far. It's written as __接待__ and basically means “Business entertainment” (“to connect” + “to entertain/to practice hospitality/to play host”). When __nomikai__ is drinking _inside_ the company, with your fellow colleagues, __settai__ is when one company invites another one (think client or potential client) to spend some time together and build relationships between them. That's the basic explanation, for more information, please read [these](https://directionjapan.com/the-art-of-settai-in-japan/) [two](https://directionjapan.com/the-art-of-settai-in-japan-part-ii/) amazing articles on art of settai * [__Edamame__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edamame) is a way of prepartion of immature soybeans in the pod. The pods are boiled or steamed and may be served with salt. In Japan however, they are usually blanched in 4% salt water. Super tasty. * "Nuances of dialect" that our poor Tokyoite salaryman mentions is __Kansai-ben__, a dialect that people in Kansai region use. Basically every character in this anime talks in Kansai-ben. And while it might sounds the same, there are some slight differences in grammar (very slight, but they are still there) and most importantly, pitch accent. * [__Renge__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_spoon) as known as Chinese spoon or Duck spoon is that one spoon you might have seen in anime when characters go to eat some ramen. ![This one](https://i.imgur.com/5dqnciH.png) * [__Honnou-ji Temple__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honn%C5%8D-ji) ([Google Street View](https://goo.gl/maps/SzM71mPaNTp1HH6a8)) — a buddhist temple. What makes it famous, though, is so called [__Honnō-ji Incident__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honn%C5%8D-ji_Incident) when [daimyō](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimy%C5%8D) (Japanese feudal lord) [__Oda Nobunaga__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oda_Nobunaga) was betrayed by one of his generals, [__Akechi Mitsuhide__](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akechi_Mitsuhide), and forced to commit [seppuku](__https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seppuku__) (or __harakiri_, ritual suicide) by setting the temple on fire. After what happened the Honnou-ji was rebuilt on a different site in Kyoto, where our hero went to after his late-night dinner with Chitose-chan. * The phrase "The enemy is at Honnou-ji" was said by __Akechi Mitsuhide__, that's why Chitose-chan was asked to make an impression of __Oda Nobunaga__. * The end-card is reference to the 16-century portrait of __Oda Nobunaga__. ![Portrait of Oda Nobunaga](https://i.imgur.com/vlVF1TZ.png) Previous Episode: * __Episode 16__ — [__Sakuramochi__](https://nyaa.si/view/1144853) Please enjoy and don't forget to support this anime! I saw the show got picked up by Crunchyroll. Are you going to keep doing the rest of the eps or wait for Crunchyroll to catch up so you can take their subs and edit them or use at least the timed scripts?

Yeah, I saw it too. Actually, I don't know. First of all, I've started this fansub project to a) practice listening b) practice reading c) practice translation d) learn more about Kyoto e) learn more about fansubbing e) finally watch and understand that one anime I was really-really looking forward to and that was brutally dropped by two fansubbing groups few weeks after it started I'm now in a "one week = one episode" mode and I still haven't learned everything from the series, so I probably will continue to do it, no matter how fast CR will translate it. I won't throw any tantrums and ignite any drama, though, 'cause, let's be honest, CR guys are far better translators then me + they are native English speakers, so I can't really blame anyone for a desire to read a proper English translation and not my non-native abomination. I compile some additional information for every episode for anyone who want to learn more about history of Japan, its culture and of course about Kyoto, something that CR guys don't do. Though I think those who have downloaded torrent/magnets from the main page don't know about it, but welp. I'm thinking about translating a manga, btw, but afair it was picked by CR too, so I dunno.
Please keep doing this project! I just love it with all the extra info you throw in. I thank you for that as well!
@random18: Any news on a new release?
