When encoding, could you do x265 (hevc) instead. If you do using quality crf28, file size will be just 100 or 200mb.

When subbing in the future, it’s usually best to set the subtitle resolution to the actual resolution of the video and base the sizing of the text off of that, rather than using the default of 384x288. While most players will simply scale the text appropriately, you can easily run into problems where the text comes up either way too large or way too small (and, if the aspect ratios don’t match, they can be stretched). It’s just easier to work with the subs set to 1920x1080 from the start (I say this because I opened the file to change Syaro to Sharo, which is my personal preference, and the subs were incredibly tiny).
