My subtitle track for Promare. Subs are in .ass format. #### Movie not included (clearly), I don't think I have the upload speed to be seeding a whole film, but you're free to use these or edit them as long as I'm credited for them. #### Like the PDO subs, mine use the GKIDS translation as a base, but I've gone through the whole film and retranslated line by line, replacing/editing stuff that either didn't line up with the Japanese or I just didn't like. They're based on the theatrical subs. Essentially: - Removes some instances of the translator inserting their own dialogue where it wasn't present in the Japanese (i.e. the "balls to the wall" thing) - Adds back in (mostly minor) instances of dialogue missing from the GKIDS translation - Most significantly: Rephrases large chunks of the movie, both for the sake of nuance and clarity closer to the Japanese, and for style (It's hard to give a singular example when there's so many changes but the technobabble especially felt really lacking in the first half of the film...) This also includes reintroducing parallels in dialogue that I think the original English sub obscured a little. None of the fonts from PDOs release are included, sorry if you're really attached to having fancy subtitles but I personally don't care to add them in. You can edit them in if you'd like of course. No karaoke like in CarpenterRabbit's version either. I also decided not to include honorifics as they're used very infrequently and it felt arbitrary to use them. The changes are more significant in the first half than the second. I only really kept in lines from the GKIDS subs I found accurate or liked, which is probably less than half of the movie (although a lot of it was just rephrased, granted most significant lines have been altered in some way to better reflect the Japanese)...If you don't like the those subtitles or PDO's, these are hopefully different enough to be worth a try. It took around 20 hours to finish these so I'd really appreciate it if people checked them out :) Please let me know if there are any errors at all. Thank you! (And sorry if there's anything wrong with the torrent, I've never made one before. also PLEASE SEED! My internet speed is hot garbage) DDL if you'd like it: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UvGmlBf9Uo7Cx8MzITBNy0nn9aYJw-dl?usp=sharing

I just watched the movie for the first time with these subs so I can't really compare them with the other translation edits, but the these subs were great. The only issue is that they are a tad bit too small. lol

@DoktorWeiss Oops, I thought the size was alright >< If anyone else has issues with the size maybe try these? They're 5 points larger. https://drive.google.com/file/d/15U5H8Z676W9UesQvb6ji9eRAxanJqHsf/view?usp=sharing I think it will depend on the resolution you have the movie in. Still getting the hang of Aegisub. Thank you by the way :)
Thanks for the subs! You rock!
This is awesome, I wasn't expecting fanlated subs so soon! I wasn't super happy with the GKIDS script (and tweaked it in a few parts) but since I don't speak Japanese I didn't want to take too many liberties. I look forward to having a proper read and seeing the differences.

@PromareWeekOne Wow, thank you for commenting! I presumed you didn't speak much Japanese from what I saw of your subs, and I don't mean to disparage you by that; I think it's admirable you gave it a shot anyway :) Like I said on Reddit (I'm not sure if you saw), please let me know if you see anything in this that was taken from yours, I was under the impression the subs I used were the theatrical ones but now I'm not so sure. @Mysticus Thank you too!
The theatrical ones only exist in the camrip. Official subs aren't released yet and (as far as I have seen) I'm the only person who's transcribed the camrip subs. Maybe there are some subs I'm not aware of, but I believe that if you started out with a .srt or .ass file it's probably in some way based on mine. However, your subs have been changed so much that they don't resemble mine at all. The timing (which took me the longest) is completely different and none of my mistakes or liberties remain. If I was really stretching I would say that the ellipsis at the start and end of the second line (about the WHO) is from my release, because that's definitely something that I added (and wasn't in the GKIDS sub), but honestly don't sweat it, your subs are clearly not derivative. Sorry for not mentioning you in my comparison earlier, I was busy rewatching NGE. Again. :P

@PromareWeekOne Funnily enough, I think I added that line in myself. Granted, I started my subs before any transcription was out and pasted the first 40 or so minutes back into the rip I got when it came out, so that might have been how I got confused on where it came from ^^; Regardless I'm pretty sure I edited over yours now. At least that's solved. And no it's fine, aren't we all? lmao
Thank you very much for the subtitles ^_^

Thanks for subs!!
Is there an easy way to re-position the subtitles so that they aren't at the very bottom of the video frame? It's a slight strain to have them at the dead bottom, as opposed to being slightly raised like most other subtitle formats. Great work otherwise, thanks for the release!

@BillBoyTM I'm not sure about other video players, but in MPC-HC you can override placement by right clicking, "subtitle track" and then "options". Tick the "override placement" box, set horizontal to 50% and play around with the vertical placement. 95% looks good to me but YMMV of course. What I'm learning from this is that I should actually look at them /properly/ before I release subs next time, sorry about that.
Can you sub Promare SIDE Galo and Promare SIDE Lio ?

@maroon1 I was planning to but it looks like Leeson has done them already :)
