While playing the PC version of Trails from Zero, I happened to notice that the sound effects and battle voices sound a bit muffled. This is because they were all rendered in 22 kHz to save on memory usage, which makes sense for the PSP’s limited RAM, but not on a PC.
I found that the SFX in Zero no Kiseki Evolution were rendered at 48 kHz instead, and sound cleaner as a result. The same goes for the battle voices too, since the game considers them sound effects. I ended up converting all of the SFX & battle voices back into WAV format so they could be used on the PC version.
In addition to sounding cleaner, the battle voices from Evolution are new takes from the same voice actors. These might not be to everyone’s liking, but they are the same lines at least.
It’s worth noting that Zero no Kiseki KAI on PS4 also uses the Evolution battle voices and SFX.
Note: 3 battle voices and 3 SFX seem to be missing from Evolution’s files. Since I couldn’t find these, I just left the original clips from the PC version.
Changelog:
Let me know if anymore issues are found and I will do my best to fix them!
I also did a similar mod for Trails to Azure if you are interested!
