Synopsis: Air was directed by Osamu Dezaki and written by Makoto Nakamura based on the visual novel Air by Key. It premiered in Japanese theaters on February 5, 2005. The film was animated by Toei Animation.
In the past, Kanna, the last of the white winged maidens, was held prisoner in a castle—cursed never to experience love, lest she die. Centuries later, in a sleepy coastal town, a young girl relives this agony. A young man, Yukito, comes to a quiet town one week before their annual festival with hopes that he can make some money. However, he meets an unusual girl called Misuzu, Yukito and Misuzu’s fates soon become intertwined with each other. They develop feelings for each other, However when Yukito realizes Misuzu’s connection to the past, he is reminded of what his mother once told him “When you go out on your journey, if you find the winged girl’s re-incarnation, you must use your power to set her free.” Yukito must decide on whether to leave, or to attempt to break the curse that has bound Kanna in centuries of pain.
