You don't need to read that watch guide; just watch in the order it was released in p.s. you should really be watching practically every piece of media ever made in release order

But there are two release orders.
Thanks king! > p.s. you should really be watching practically every piece of media ever made in release order @Arcus_Deer told that on reddit and some bitches said I can watch anything as I like on his own post asking should I watch x anime before or after y anime...
>p.s. you should really be watching practically every piece of media ever made in release order i am watching in release order, novel release order, aka the order nisio intended people to consume it in
@kataku3 "chronological order" is only ever included on these charts to flex their knowledge and make it seem more complicated than it is. Only real choice to make is between LN and release order, which will depend on who you want to trust more: the author or the studio
thank u for the hard work and autism you put up with
Doing what Commie will NEVER do. Good shit Dr. Bob!
Anime release order is the only correct one, everything else makes you a big dumbo in my books. Suck it losers.
LN order superiority has been vindicated beyond all reasonable doubt
Release order is correct, but with Kizu after Bake, as canonically dictated. Waiting until after fucking Owari to know how the story started just because of Shaft's (reasonable and necessary) delays is dumb as hell and I regret listening to people that say to do it.
> Waiting until after fucking Owari to know how the story started But the story started with Hitagi Crab. You don't really need the knowledge of Kizumonogatari at any point in the series until Owari 2. The show is built around the assumption that Kizu wasn't released yet, there are ample flashbacks and exposition into events of Kizu whenever necessary.
@Ilyyr Yes, the story starts with Hitagi Crab. As you correctly point out, a story doesn't need to be told in chronological order, and in this case it is not. Starting with Kizu would be confusing because it assumes knowledge of concepts whose significance is introduced in Bakemonogatari. However, later entries (especially Nise) in turn assume knowledge of the contents of the Kizumonogatari movies, mostly revolving around the relationship to Shinobu. While measures may have been taken to accomodate the fucked schedule of the movies, that does not at all mean that they are complete supplements, and there is no reason to watch the Kizu movies at a later time when further along the story—if anything it negatively impacts the pacing of the later arcs. It was meant to come out and be viewed after Bake, and there's no reason not to do so now that one can.
The reason is that it's better that way, Tsukudakobashi. Simple as that.
Arigabased. The peak of a 6 year fansubbing career will soon be reached.
Bro any chance of seeing Cyberpunk Edgerunner from you?
@kataku3 less stupid chart: ![](https://i.imgur.com/tWvogL4.png)
The only thing I could disagree with concerning the above chart is Hana, because even though it was obviously meant to be after Kabuki, it's also a good thematic capstone to the series in a similar yet different way that Koi is. And if you're generally watching it in anime release order (sans Kizu before Owari/Owari S2, or even if doing it that way), then there's basically no major advantage or disadvantage to watching Hana last in Second Season instead of third. Koyomi being second in Final Season I don't really feel strongly about in terms of pacing, but I personally like watching it before Owari S2 given that its last episode goes right into Owari S2. Kizu being second-to-last in the watch order is frustrating but given how well Shaft's attempts at supplementing knowledge from Kizu into the rest of the show are implemented, if you're someone who watches stuff in strictly anime release order, then you're not actively missing out on that much, aside from the experience of watching some of the greatest movies of all time. (IMO, at least.) I do wish I watched it second instead of second-to-last on my first viewing of the series. If you have a friend or acquantiance who's on the fence about Monogatari but wants to give it a try without committing a whole lot, the Kizu films are the perfect entry point too. Most of the people I've introduced to the series who were on the fence started with Kizu on my recommendation, and after watching the rest of the series, they were glad they did so that way, even with how vastly different in style and aesthetics the films are. So really, as long as it gets watched at all, it probably doesn't ultimately matter whether you watch it first, second, or second-to-last.

When I was rewatching Neko Black last week, it occurred to me that "novel order Kizu" is less about Shinobu and more about Hanekawa. For the Shinobu stuff, sure, watch Kizu at any time before Owari1. But Koyomi's rant(s) in Neko Black makes borderline no sense if you haven't watched Kizu first.
