But I continue to wonder why so many make versions that are max restricted? When it can made compatible with every media player in the world and still have the same video and audio quality desired encoding with avc8bit, AAC,AC3, or FLAC. This hevc/opus version can only be played with software type media players like MPC, Pot Player, KMPlayer. on a computer.
Common sense says make compatible with all media players. Trends aren't necessarily good when they hinder your ability to watch Anime anywhere and on anything. But I can understand if its made this way to be restrict media playback.

I use HEVC and opus to minimize filesize for efficient storage and file-sharing without sacrificing (much) quality.
If compatibility is a concern I think it's simple enough to transcode the media to your preferred format. These days it's popular to use something like Plex or Jellyfin to transcode as needed on the fly.

for maximum compatibility you might want to buy a cheap used computer with at least an i5 on ebay and use that as a video playback machine.
They make some wireless mice that look like remote controls which you could pair with it.
