@ujifujimoto This is not an encode from the BD, just a remux, For newbies “mux” is short for multiplexing / multiplexer, which is a device that’s like a switch–takes multiple inputs and selects an output based on a select line, so in this case it takes the original bd audio/video/sub streams in the m2ts files and re-multiplexes them into a mkv container, using metadata from the mpls (playlist) files, which also provides the chapter info.
The US BD is encoded with x264, with good settings and good bitrate and is better than the Japanese BD version because the JP BD video is interlaced, at 29.97 fps, while this US BD version is pogressive, at the correct 23.976 fps.
