Orphan presents a new version of Satsujin Kippu wa Heart-iro (The Murder Ticket Is Heart-Colored), a 1990 mystery OVA based on a series of young adult novels for women by Yamaura Hiroyasu. It tells the story of high-school student Nagare Seiko’s “vacation” (due to a suspension) in Nagasaki with her black-and-white cat, Gonbei. On the train from Tokyo, she encounters a handsome man who has supposedly been murdered.

She also encounters other strangers, some helpful, some mysterious, and gets mixed up in the affairs (and murders) of a prominent local family, the Totsugawas. The mystery isn’t very deep, and there’s more comedy that thrills, but it’s a decent ride. See this blog entry for more details.

New encode, ripped from a Japanese laserdisc on the Domesday Duplicator by WOWmd. Better definition, less frame blending. Opus audio, whatever that is. (I thought Opus was a penguin in Bloom County.)
