What’s the use when the translatioun errors aren’t corrected?

@sangofe I merely changed the dub names back to their original japanese names, Saiyan is changed to Saiya-jin, Supreme Kai is changed to Kaioshin, Buu is changed to Boo, etc.

I don’t speak Japanese and can’t correct translation errors but since you can speak Japanese and can therefore detect the errors, you are welcome to fix it.
Subs are included separately as well.

Thats very nice and you’re welcome to download theirs if you want. Mine is a different take on the naming convention. They use Namekian, I use Namekku-seijin. Like it, don’t like it. Download it, Don’t download it, don’t really care.

That’s really hardcore and unnecessary when you don’t know the language itself.

Reminds me of the Latin Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese dubs that used Saiya-jin and Nameku-seijin than “Saiyano” and “Namekiano.”

BestBob’s subtitles will be my go-to release when all episodes are uploaded in its best quality, but sure there’s this for whomever.

My mind set is, names don’t change when you do a translation/sub. Only the conversational text changes. Namekian or Saiyan while accurate is not the translation of Namekku-seijin and Saiya-jin. The actual translation would be closer to Saiya people or namek people. That being said, some names are completely changed in the Dub like, Kaioshin does not translate into Supreme Kai.
Make sense? So the idea is that while this is a translation, names of people/places should remain the same as their Japanese name.

That’s just a fundamental misunderstanding of the suffix -jin. It’s the equivalent of the English -an and -ese, etc. Amerika-jin is just American. Nihon-jin is just Japanese. There’s nothing special about it that would require leaving it untranslated. Namekian and Saiyan are no different.

Doesn’t Daima use “Nameku-jin” instead of “Namekusei-jin” anyway? So changing it to Namekusei-jin is altering the actual dialogue of the show.

@-___- its not a misundering of the suffix “Jin” which means people or person, So Amerika-jin means People/person of America which can then be simplified into American which is perfectly fine, however the term Saiyan while appropriate is a dub term, meaning in the dub it is not prounced “Sai-yan” its pronounced “Sae-yan”. That being said Saiya-jin and Saiyan or even Saiya People are perfectly acceptable and is a personal choice. It’s not for everyone but the is “My” preference.

I still agree with what -__- says otherwise though, and I know that they speak Japanese, which you yourself say you do not. Saiyan doesn’t come from the dub, it’s used in Japan as an official romanization from time to time, and sticking to Saiya-jin etc is an unnecessary over-correction that comes across as a weeb-ism. The dub of course does have the issue of pronunciation as you said, but that doesn’t make “Saiyan” wrong.

I appreciate the effort at fixing the subs but I also believe it’s imperative that any type of sub correction be done with advisement of people who actually know Japanese to avoid these types of issues.
